“What was the baby item you and your baby couldn’t

live without?”

I was going to write about how my oldest child loved her vibrating bouncy chair so much, I found her crawling across the living room floor one day with the chair still securely attached to her body. However, that was not one of my better parenting moments, so I’ve decided to tell a different tale of a much loved baby gift – the Bumbo Baby Seat.

The Bumbo Baby Seat was a lifesaver for us. My second and third children loved, loved, loved this chair. As soon they could hold their head ups they were in the seat. The chair supported the back and torso, while passive restraints prevented slipping. Built from comfortable cushy foam with a clip-on play tray, they were safe, happy and entertained. Could I have lived without it? Yes. Did I want to, no.

I got a swing for baby number one, not one of my kids liked it. It was a space sucker and nothing more. I had play mats, exersaucers, walkers you name it. It was the Bumbo Baby Seat they gravitated to (that and the vacuum during those lovely days of colic).

New parents tend to believe they need every gizmo on the market but, in reality your child is going to have his or her own ideas and you’ll know it. All babies are different, as are their likes and dislikes. So, we put the question out there, “What was the baby item you and your baby couldn’t live without?”

It was so nice because as soon as my oldest grew out of one size, I’d have a little time to get to the store to get the next size up.”

  • Carly Smith wrote: “My go to shower gifts are books, a customized (by me!) onesie, teething tablets and gripe water. I didn’t find out about gripe water until I needed it, and it saved my life!!! Other good things were the bouncy seat and Bumbo.”
